Philadelphia Ranked No. 3 on the List of Top 10 Trendiest Yet Affordable Cities in America
For the last several years, cool up and coming cities have been referred to as the new Brooklyn. But the reality is, Brooklyn is not very affordable. So Realtor.com put together a list of the Top 10 Trendiest Cities in America Where You Can Still Afford to Buy a Home. Philly came in at number 3 on the list!
Realtor.com looked at the country’s 300 largest metro areas and found the ones that have cool things to do and emerging cultural scenes that are especially popular with young people. All while having plenty of affordable homes for sale.
They had to have amenities that are loved by the young and trendy crowd like yoga studios, breweries, food trucks, farmers markets and art house theaters.
Each metro that made the list had an increase in population of 25 to 34 year olds moving to the area from 2018 to 2019. They got this information from the U.S. Census Bureau.
But to make sure they met the affordable criteria, the cities all have a median home list price of $400,000 or less.
Philly is the 3rd Trendiest and Affordable City in the U.S.
It’s no shock that the birthplace of America is rich with history and culture. It’s also a city of neighborhoods, many of which have been dubbed the next Williamsburg for a fraction of the price, according to Realtor.com.
Philly also made TIME’s list of the World’s 100 Best Places because of the new art exhibits at the Art Museum. So it’s clearly taking off in the art gallery department.
New boutiques and restaurants are popping up all over the city. To name a few, Suraya, Apricot Stone, Pizzeria Beddia, Zahav, Sampan, Attico, Front Street Cafe and so many more.
The median listing price in Philadelphia is $312,450, according to Realtor.com data. That means you can find beautiful and spacious homes in a major U.S. city.
