The Vibe

Northern Liberties is home to young professionals, growing families, artists and creators, entrepreneurs and more. It’s truly a fun neighborhood with a great culture and youthful vibe. This area has seen so much growth over the past several years. It’s no longer up and coming - it’s here. There’s tons of new development bringing a new wave of residents and constant excitement.

It used to be a manufacturing district, but in the 1990s, this area really took off when artists moved to the area to find affordable housing and studio space. Then in 2009, there was another boom when housing developments took off like a rocket. Today it’s one of the coolest and most fun places to spend your time in Philadelphia. The neighborhood ticks a lot of boxes - it’s easy to get here, there’s tons of options for places to live, incredible food, drinks, boutiques and entertainment right outside your door, and a rare bonus - lots of green space. You can see why it’s quickly becoming one of the most popular neighborhoods in the city.

Things to Do

  • One of the major perks of this area is having a lot of green space. These two parks are right across the street from each other.

  • Liberty Lands - 2 acre multi use green space that is used and maintained by the community. It’s dog friendly, has a community garden, playground, picnic tables and is great for events. It was reclaimed from vacant urban land from the old industrial community that’s been turned into a beautiful park int he heart of the neighborhood.

  • Orianna Hill Dog Park - this L shaped park is of course great for dogs, but it’s also a great place to have a picnic, take a stroll and enjoy the fresh air.

  • North Bowl - retro bowling alley and lounge with full bars, food, pool tables and more. Great place to hangout and sometimes see live music

  • Hudson Table - they have hands on cooking classes, demonstrations, chefs table and they even have a iron chef style competitions where you can be the judge

  • Northern Liberties knows how to do a street festival. The biggest one is the 2nd Street festival every August, which is the ultimate block party with live music, great food, drinks and vendors. And there’s a spinoff festival call Night Market in the fall.
