Watch Our Eagles Ice the Vikings at Pegsicle, La Peg’s Outdoor Ice Bar

Watch Our Eagles Ice the Vikings at Pegsicle, La Peg’s Outdoor Ice Bar

On Sunday, January 21, fans from across Philadelphia are invited to watch the 6:40 p.m. NFC Championship Game between the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles at Pegsicle, the limited-edition outdoor ice bar at La Peg at FringeArts. Featuring a tailgate-inspired menu to complement the special drinks, the party will be held in the seasonal ice sculpture garden in La Peg’s outdoor Haas Biergarten, which welcomes hundreds of viewers each week in the summer for their popular annual Movie Night Series.

The centerpiece of the garden is Chef-Owner Peter Woolsey’s Eagles-inspired ice sculpture, featuring the team’s iconic logo recreated in ice with a shot luge streaming down the bird’s beak (click here for a rendering) – and Pegsicle itself, where guests are invited to enjoy as they watch our Eagles fly on the big screen beneath the Ben Franklin Bridge.

“Pegsicle has been a party all week long, and we are excited to ‘tailgate’ outdoors during this thrilling play-off game,” says Chef Woolsey, a celebrated chef and amateur ice carver who designed and carved Pegsicle himself (click for photos). Adds General Manager Brad Histand, “I know I’m not the only fan who has attended a game only to be forced to leave by freezing temps, so we’re especially excited that guests will be able to duck inside, warm up, and head right back out to watch the rest of the game during this lively party.”

The tailgate-inspired menu will include:

  • Buffalo Wings with hot sauce, blue cheese dressing and celery
  • Pub Burger, an 8-oz. patty on a brioche bun with grilled red onion and bacon jam, raclette cheese, oven-roasted tomato, bibb lettuce and fries
  • Fast Food Cheeseburger, a 5-oz. patty on a potato roll with onions, pickles, special sauce and Cooper’s sharp cheddar
  • General Tso’s Tofu Sandwich on a brioche roll with broccoli rabe, sesame aioli and fries
  • Margherita Grilled Cheese with pesto, tomato jam, mozzarella, provolone and parmesan cheeses on house-made bread
  • Fried Cheese Curds with marinara dipping sauce
  • Crudité of pickled and fresh vegetables with ranch, lemon-chive crème fraîche and “French” dressing

Pegsicle will also serve a very special Eagles shot from their popular ice luge: The Underdog, a festive green shot that’s both delicious and warming, available throughout the game for just $3 each (and for $4 on non-gamedays). The full drinks menu for Pegsicle (click to view), which will be available throughout the game, includes:

  • Mulled Red Wine
  • Spiked Hot Chocolate with a choice of Kahlua, peppermint schnapps or tequila
  • Rum Daiquiri with white rum, lime and sugar
  • Moscow Mule with vodka, ginger beer and lime
  • Blood Orange Margarita with tequila, blood orange and lime
  • Beer and Wine, including Sly Fox Rt. 113, Oskar Blues Old Chub, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Shots, such as Blue Kamikaze with vodka, blue curacao and lime, and Surfer on Acid, with Malibu coconut rum, Jägermeister and pineapple

Located outside of La Peg beneath the twinkling lights of their popular Haas Biergarten, with three cozy fire pits and views of the Ben Franklin Bridge, Pegsicle and the accompanying sculpture garden is this winter’s can’t-miss spot for a cocktail.
