Pop-Up Parks Replace Metered Spaces, as Parking Day Returns to Philly
Today – Friday September 19th, international initiative Parking Day returns to the streets of Philadelphia. The innovative, annual incarnation enters its 7th year demonstrating. With urbanization on the rise, Parking Day aims to “promote green & pedestrian-friendly urban spaces,” via mini pop-up parks. Throughout the city today, you can check out various exposés stretching from Walnut Street in Center City, to Cecil B. Moore Ave. in North Philadelphia. Demonstrations occupy roughly 8′ x 20′ [equating an approximate parking spot measurement] & aim to create vibrant, human-scale activities [comfortably] within bustling urban setting.
