Philly’s Getting Younger
Very cool article on Philly.com called Center City gets younger. It highlights the explosion of 20-30 year olds living in Philly and how they are changing the city’s look. The most popular neighborhoods for this age group are Manayunk, Northern Liberties, Southwest Center City, University City, Center City, and Fairmount/Spring Garden. Check out these numbers for the top three:
Manayunk: Largest percentage of young adults in Philadelphia. 59% of residents are in their 20s or 30s. Up 20% from 2000.
Northern Liberties: People in 20s-30s up 77% in last 10 years; 2,500 more young adults. They make up the majority of the neighborhood at 53%. Average household income has steadily increased from $50,730 to $79,476
Southwest Center City: 53% of residents are in their 20s or 30s. Average household income has been steadily rising since 1999 from $42,677 to $68,644 in 2009.
