Homebuyer Tax Credit Speculation

It seems like the homebuyer tax credit talk was all just speculation.  According to Inman News, Shaun Donovan clarified his remarks from last Sunday a few days later saying that bringing back the tax credit “is not high on anyone’s list that we have heard, we have not heard Congress talking about renewing it.” The National Association of Realtors and the National Association of Home Builders both have recently made it clear that they don’t want to see the tax credit come back.

A report released by the US Government Accountability Office last week listed Pennsylvania in the top 10 states for homebuyer tax credit at number 5 with about 84K claims and 591M in tax savings.

    It’s too bad this probably will not be renewed, but at least interest rates are still close to 4%!
