Top 5 Must Try Sushi Restaurants in Philly
The trendy sushi craze that was sweeping across the US a few years ago is still running strong, especially in the Philadelphia scene. Now you can find sushi almost anywhere in the area, from the abundance of restaurants to fresh sushi at your local grocery store. Sushi has evolved into its own style and people are eating it much more frequently. No matter what Philadelphia neighborhood you live in, you have access to delicious fresh sushi. The debate for the best is one that can be argued, but here are a few must try locations:
1.) Morimoto, 723 Chestnut Street- A quick Google search will show you all of the positive reviews. Morimoto is a must try not only for the sushi but for the striking interior of the restaurant. Iron Chef Morimoto takes Japanese food to a new level in this cutting-edge restaurant.
2.) Umai Umai, 533 N. 22nd Street- This cozy BYOB has received numerous praises from critics for the delicious sushi.
3.) Blue Fin, 1017 Germantown Pike Plymouth Meeting- City dwellers travel out to the burbs for a taste of the often hard-to-find fish used in the sushi at Blue Fin. Located in a strip mall, this BYOB might not scream “must try” but it’s definitely worth the trip.
4.) Izumi, 1601 East Passyunk Ave- Another BYOB located in the East Passyunk neighborhood, Izumi doesn’t disappoint. “Izumi is simply delicious sushi, done with care and served with style.”
5.) Vic, 2035 Samson Street- Vic is known for affordable rolls, they have a great 3 roll special for $10.95

Han Dynasty’s 14 Course Food Tasting
Must try for any Philadelphia food lover! Every 1st Monday of each month, Han Dynasty in Old City puts together a tremendous fixed menu from the chef’s choice of specialized dishes that aren’t available on the everyday menu. The Atacan Group of Keller Williams Center City took some time away from selling Philadelphia Real Estate to enjoy a great meal and bring in the New Year. Han himself is there throughout the whole night explaining his dishes, serving you, and also just being good company. When we went as group January 7, 2013 we had the opportunity to try everything from Shredded Jellyfish salad to Stuffed Tofu. Although the menu changes each month, we couldn’t say enough about this unique experience and believe it’s a must for anyone in love with Philadelphia’s food scene. Oh… and of course it’s a BYOB, so don’t forget the wine!
Top 8 Best Philadelphia Brunch Restaurants
For some Philadelphians, their favorite time of the week is Friday at 5 pm as they leave Center City for the weekend. For others, the big highlight of their week is sharing a hardy Saturday or Sunday Philadelphia brunch with their closest friends. Whether you get the blueberry pancakes and a mimosa or the eggs Benedict, brunch is a great time to relax, fill your belly with delicious food, and catch up with the gang about Philadelphia Real Estate. Here are the best places to Brunch in Philadelphia.
Ants Pants Café – Located at 2212 South Street in Graduate Hospital, Ants Pants Café is a cozy little Philadelphia neighborhood coffee shop that opens its intimate rear dining room on the weekends for brunch. Be sure to get there before 10am for a shorter wait and try their pint-sized hot chocolates, cheddar/bacon/green apple eggs scramble and crispy bacon stack. After your meal, walk off the extra pounds you just gained and enjoy the scenic three-story Philadelphia townhouses and architectural wonders of the neighborhood’s historic churches.
Café Estelle – If you want to enjoy an atmosphere that reminds you of your grandmother’s kitchen, head to Center City and pop into Café Estelle, located at 444 North 4th Street. The tabletops are collaged with vintage recipes and the friendly staff is dressed in housewife aprons. Order a hope-my-stomach-is-bigger-than-my-eyes stack of homemade pancakes, complete with a pool of warm maple syrup and honey.
Dos Segundos Cantina – Located in Northern Liberties at 931 North 2nd Street, this Mexican-joint dishes out the best brunch options this side of the Mexican border. Load up on Bloody Maries, yummy tacos, French toast with blueberries and strawberries and extra-heavy Mexican Maple syrup. After you finish eating, take a tour of the newly revamped neighborhood and check out the Piazza, Liberty’s Walks, and all of the shopping options it has to offer.
Green Eggs – Green eggs and ham might not have sounded appealing to Dr. Seuss, but this chain of cafes is one of Philly’s favorites. Their South Philadelphia location, at 1306 Dickinson, fills up quick on a Sunday morning. Be sure to try their signature Red Velvet pancakes, topped with warm butter and sugar! If it’s a nice day, take a stroll to East Passsyunk Square’s fountain and enjoy the sites of this cute neighborhood. Thei Second location in the NEst on 13th and Locust is convenient, but the service and atmosphere unfortunately has a lot to be desired
Farmicia – If you’re in Olde City, stop by Farmicia at 15 South 3rd Street to enjoy some scrumptious organic dishes. All of their meals are made with local produce and meat, ensuring a fresh and delicious flavor in each bite. They also have a breat happy Hour until 2:00 featuring delicious Bloody Marys!
Three other great Philadelphia Brunch long-time favorites with a 1 hour wait to Brunch is Morning Glory, Honey’s and Sabrinas!
